Since January 2012, the regulation on the transport of dogs, cats and ferrets in the UK has changed.

The implantation of a microchip identification is the first step to prepare the animal to travel.

Rabies vaccination is always required. But the blood test is no longer required for pets coming from the European Union
and other specified countries (not members of the European Union on the list of DEFRA as United States and
Australia). The waiting time to enter the UK after the date of vaccination against rabies is 21 days.

European passport for pets is needed. It has to be made by the veterinarian.

Treatment against ticks is no longer required but deworming against Taenia must be done. Treatment against
echinococcosis is made at least 24 hours before departure and up to 120 hours before departure (1 day to 5 days).

And finally, the animal must travel with an approved transport company taking an authorized route (eg Eurotunnel or ferry from Calais).

The veterinarian and veterinary nurse are able to help you and advise so that the entry of the animal in the UK takes place in the best conditions.
